How about a little upgrade for the Oscar broadcast show?

Seems to me the documentary category is less a good representation of excellence in film making, but more an honor bestowed on a topic well chosen, or a political agenda fitting the current pov of the academy. It is more about ‘an issue’ than about a well-made film or a new style of docu-filmmaking. In the past few years it seems that the academy enjoys promoting activism – ‘An Inconvenient Truth’, ‘The Cove’ and this year’s ‘Gas Land’.If this is the case, it would make sense to me to have a kind of a follow-up clip for last years winner. For example, this year, instead of presenting the award for best documentary film with the usual boring banter (usually revolving around how boring the presenters’ banter is) the academy will screen a 2-minute clip showing how last years’ winner changed something in the world – what’s up with the dolphins? What’s up with Ric O’Barry? Something like a news item follow-up. What do you think? http://amplify.com/u/anr92
